As the general elections draw near, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Chukwuma Nwaonicha, has said that his party will get total victory. Nwaonicha who spoke to newsmen during the week at his residence in Agbor said that PDP as a political party does not only mean well for Nigerians but also believes in the overall growth and development of Nigeria.
He asserted that PDP unlike other political parties in the country is very organized, focused and result-oriented, hence, Nigerians will without doubts vote for all its candidates in next year’s general elections.
According to Nwaonicha, “PDP is not the party to beat in the 2019 general elections. PDP unlike other political parties in Nigeria is focused, organized and result-oriented. Our great party proved its worth in the last national convention in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State where former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerged as the Presidential flag bearer. Great kudos to our maverick and action Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the great job of conducting a very peaceful and successful convention. I also commend the peaceful and successful conducts of our party primaries across the country. Above all, the reconciliation committee was set up across the nation to reconcile all aspirants that took part in the exercise shows the uniqueness and maturity of the PDP in the nation.
Speaking further, the community leader commended the appointment of former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi as the PDP vice-presidential candidate, describing the appointment as a right step in a right direction. He noted that Atiku and Obi as president and vice-president will create economic policies that will salvage the country from its current economic quagmire. He added that the appointment of Senate President Bukola Saraki as Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation ahead of the presidential election in February of 2019 shows the unity among the PDP members.
While expressing optimism that PDP will get total victory in the 2019 general elections, he appealed to Nigerians to vote overwhelmingly for all the candidates of the party. He posited that the opposition has failed in all ramifications and should not be entrusted with power anymore.
He concluded by saying, “The APC government at all levels has little or nothing to offer Nigerians. A government that has brought abject poverty to the country is not worth voting for in 2019. We should say no to a failed President Buhari and support efforts to re-elect Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and also elect Atiku Abubakar as our next President of Nigeria come 2019. I am therefore using this medium to call on Deltans who are yet to pick their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to do so for victory and in order to vote for the PDP candidates”
