PEOPLE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HOLDS WARD RALLY IN AKUMAZI

As 2019 general election approaches, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has on Saturday, November 24, 2018 commenced their political rally in Ward 7 which comprises Akumazi-Umuocha, Owerre-Olubor and Ekwuoma. The event which was held at Umuocha Primary School in Akumazi was attended by numerous PDP bigwigs in Ika land.

In his address, the Ward 7 Chairman, Mr. Azike Simeon commended the good work of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Ward 7 and Ika land in general. He stressed that the people of Ward 7 are peace loving people who have been working tirelessly to move the party to greater height. According to him, “Akumazi/Ekwuoma Road needs immediate attention as it is no longer motorable and has become a danger zone to Okada riders and farmers who are always molested by hoodlums and thieves.

“Despite all these, the good people of this Ward are happy with Okowa’s government and have pledged massive support for his second term bid. We assure you that we have declared this ward for PDP and PDP will win in all the units.”

In his speech, the Ika North East party chairman, Chief Godwin Ogadi commended Ward 7 for their hardwork, saying that he is impressed. He stated that work would soon commence at Akumazi/Ekwuoma road and Akumazi Health Centre, assuring them of more democratic dividends in the ward which he said would soon come.

Chief Ogadi pointed out that the people of Ika land would know that they have the best governor whose priority remains the wellbeing of the people of Ika nation, urging them to remain focus and work towards accomplishing victory for all PDP candidates come 2019. The party chairman disclosed that for effective and smooth governance, they must vote for all PDP candidates, saying that since the creation of Delta State, Okowa remains the best governor. He stressed that they can never afford to accept defeat from any party, saying that Ika nation is known for PDP and as such, the people must rise up to their responsibility and ensure that Okowa and other PDP candidates emerge victorious.

Continuing, Chief Ogadi stated that PDP remains the only party that would bring rapid development to Ika nation, pointing out that Governor Okowa has demonstrated in various ways that he is reliable and could be trusted and as such, Ika people must encourage him.

He described Okowa as the star in Delta State and Nigeria in general, adding that Ika people were not known to despise their own. In his words, “We will protect and support our son, Okowa. We must fight against temptation through prayer and we must watch and pray. If you know that you love Okowa, vote for Victor Nwokolo, Peter Nwoboshi and Tony Elekeokwuri.

Also speaking, the member representing Ika Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, State House of Assembly member, Hon. Tony Elekeokwuri and Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Council, Hon. Victor Ebonka in their separate remarks expressed satisfaction towards the large turnout of people in Ward 7, saying that they have shown that they are strongly behind PDP. They added that with their great number, victory is assured come 2019. They assured the people that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s government would continue to do more and better things in ward 7.

During the rally, some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC defected to PDP, saying that they have found light in the party. They made this known through their leader, Mr. Udoka Anaene, adding that they have seen that PDP remains the party that would lead the people to the Promised Land. In his words, “I am assuring you all that there is no opposition in ward 7. We are going to ensure that nobody votes against Okowa and other PDP candidates. We thank Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his good works in the state. We have never had it so good like this before now.”

Welcoming the decampees into the party, the party chairman, Chief Godwin Ogadi on behalf of Governor Okowa and other party leaders, thanked them for making the right choice. He noted that their hardwork in the party would earn them great reward, urging every one of them to step up and work towards the victory of PDP come 2019. He enjoined them to work hard and bring more persons to the party, as PDP remains the only party that would bring speedy development to ward 7 and Ika nation in general.
