A councilorship aspirant for the upcoming local government election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in ward 1 constituency of Ika South Local government area, Onyeka Onyibe, has promised to give effective representation if elected to represent the ward at the legislative arm of the local government council.
Onyibe popularly known as Bob made the promise while listing his priorities of his intentions to serve the peoples mandate as councilor during the Ward general meeting held last week. He said he is on a mission to actualize developmental projects in Ward 1 and that he would do so through accountability, transparency, equity and fairness that will bring about positive change.
According to him, “I am confident of my capability to effectively represent my people and make the ward a much better and organized place if I have their mandate.
Continuing he said, “If elected, I will as part of my duty adjudicates on matters that will galvanize the credibility of the council chairman to provide welfare programmes in ward 1 among other basic necessities of life.
“I know people might think these things are quite impossible for a councilor to achieve, but I can assure you that bringing my wisdom to bear as well as prompt consultations with elders and above all with God’s divine support, all things will be made possible”.
He however, called on the mammoth crowd that accompanied him to the party meeting and others to throw their weight behind him so that they can collaborate in bringing the dividend of democracy to Ward 1.
Responding, the PDP ward 1 chairman, Mr. John Obiazi, commended Onyibe for his courage to run for the councilorship seat of his ward through PDP.
He advised that the party would not encourage him as a young man to pursue his political ambition by spending money, rather; he should diligently woo the ward members who according to him would determine his fate as the party is not going to impose any candidate for the election. Meanwhile Mr. Obiazi has advised all aspirants from the ward to go about their campaigns peacefully in order not to create rancour in the party.
