Kentoa expressed his joy, and thanked specifically Zenith Bank Plc, the sponsor of the football competition for reviving the Principal’s Cup football competition in the state. In his words, “The football competition has three phases; the local government, zonal and state levels. At Ika North East, the competition has commenced smoothly and it was grouped into two, the Umunede zone and Owa zone. The importance of sports generally cannot be overemphasized. So, I am confident that at the end of the competition a football team from a school in the area of my jurisdiction will lift up the trophy. I want all game masters of the competing schools to help me actualize this vision by ensuring that they adhere strictly to the competition rules which he described as the first pass mark”.
Mr. Kentoa used the opportunity to laud the efforts of the Executive Governor of the state, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who he said that his government is doing well in all areas to better the lives of all deltans. He enjoined the competing schools’ players to be courteous and apply the football prowess to defeat their opponents; reminding them that any player who goes against the game rules will be disqualified. He wished the competing schools success.
