It is important to know when it is time to change course. No business, job, or activity will be perfect forever unless you are willing to constantly update it, because as you grow, the things around you need to be revised. Sometimes, a simple change will do. Other times the only way you will be able to go to the next level will be to change and let go everything you have and start all over with something completely different. It is the old leaving that paves way for the new. If things are not working out well as you will like right now, if you are not as happy as you used to be with your career, it could be sign that it is time for change. So, you better get ready to expand and move to a new level.
Is a job, career, or situation that used to work no longer working for you? Perhaps what you once loved to do have become boring to you or have lost its sense of meaning to you. Perhaps, you have experienced a drop in sales or clients, or a lack of enthusiasm for something you used to enjoy. No matter your level of prosperity, abundance and achievement, there comes a time when your picture of where you want to be, or think that you ought to be, does not match where you are. This can happen to anyone; to those who have millions of dollars and those who wonder where their next meal will come from.
The job you have now and the skills you use were appropriate to bring your original goal. If you are now asking for more, thinking in bigger and more expensive way, you may need a way method and attitude to get to where you want to go next. The same job, thoughts, skills, or attitudes will bring you only what you now have. You need to discover new ways of thinking or feeling, new perspectives, skills, and ideas, as you are getting ready to start a new cycle. You have not failed or gone backward. Instead, see yourself as a success; you are getting ready for a new leap forward.
Believe that no path is ever closed or slowed down unless that is for your good. If following your path is a struggle, or is getting too difficult; take time to reexamine what you are doing. There may be better ways of doing something or something else, entirely different, may be emerging for you. If one path is giving you difficulty, there must be another path you can follow, and it may be more prosperous and fulfilling than the one you are on now.
Be mindful of the fact that mankind is constantly changing course and that circumstances are always changing. What mankind wants now and what people are excited about is not the same as it was even a year ago, if not months ago, and will not be the same in time to come. Even the best plan must be constantly reviewed. You will need to check if your actions and attitude is still in alignment with your inner direction and purpose.
Once you have created something or move to a new level, you need to learn how to make it grow. What works for you today may not work for you at a future time without some changes or upgrading. What you feel guided to do now may not be what you feel guided to do some months from now. You need to take risks, new activities, and keep your energy alive.
When you are no longer enjoying what you are doing, it is a sign that something new is needed. If this is so, developing the new, will bring you more abundance than holding on to the old. Ensure that you are always growing and changing as you stay in touch with what you enjoy doing most.
Creating and discovering your career path does not come from choosing safety and comfort over growth and self development. It rather comes from choosing and taking those actions that will help you get to where you want to go. It is imperative that you learn to embrace challenges with love rather than avoiding them. Start by doing something that is slightly difficult for you; take on a slightly more challenging project than you can normally tackle, or learn new skill. Moreover, these challenging tasks will keep you energized, invigorated and rejuvenated. Take the level of risk that is comfortable for you, and increase it one at a time, as it varies from persons to persons. You do not necessarily have to take the task that is too risky or extremely uncomfortable for you, because doing so will erode the joy attached to the task.
Sometimes you may merely need to let go of an attitude or belief. You may have to willingly, joyfully, and consciously leave the old lifestyle, or you can decide to wait until circumstances reach crisis proportion and you forced to implement new ideas. If it is time to make changes but you are reluctant to let go of the old, circumstances would be created in which the old will no longer work for you. Life is always looking for better options; once you have achieved one goal, you will usually be looking toward the next goal
Some people do not make changes until they experience discontent or anxiety, while some others let go easily and naturally, creating new ideas and letting go of old forms when and where appropriate.
In sum, learn to let go of the old when it becomes necessary or find ways to change things when you stop loving what you are doing, and when you are no longer growing and feeling fulfilled from doing it. Remember, the only thing that is constant is change.
