There was great joy and dancing at St. Dominic Catholic Church Otolokpo on Sunday 8th October 2017 as Sister Bridget Okonye gave thanks to God for her 25 years of religious profession amidst jubilation.
Rev. Sr. Bridget Okonye an Otolokpo born Sr. who celebrated her 25th year of religious profession on the 1st of September 2017, at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, Agbor, Delta State was all joy as family members, friends, well wishers and the entire congregation joined her in a Thanksgiving Mass at Otolokpo.
In his homily on bearing fruits, Rev. Fr. Barrister Chukwuma Stephen thanked God for how He has led Rev. Sr. Okonye, and also congratulated her, for her perseverance and service to God, saying that she is paying the supreme price which will bring her a crown of glory.
Rev. Fr. Barrister. Chukwuma admonished all to remain committed to their Catholic Faith, as well as engage themselves in the vine yard of God, in order to bear fruits, as God expects such from them. He further charged Christians to be men and women of prayer.
Present at the Mass and also at the reception held in her honour after the mass were: family members, Monsignor Dennis Arimokwu, Rev. Fr. Festus Okocha, Rev. Fr. Pascal Nduka, Chief Godwin Ekomaye, HRM, Collins Alioma Ezenwali, Obi of Otolokpo Kingdom, Rev. Fr. Dominic Chukwudi, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Mekiriuwa Ashien, Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (O.L.A.) and others too numerous to mention.
Speaking to an Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter, Rev. Sr. Okonye expressed her gratitude to God for her year of jubilee. In her words, “yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow only a vision but today well lived makes every dream a happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. That is what has sustained me, living each day of the year with gratitude to God, so I try to live each day to its fullest. So when I look back I am very happy.”
In her message to the younger ones, she urged them to have a vision and remain focused, not losing sight of God.
