THE OKOBAHS GIVE THANKS TO GOD, HONOURED BY THE CHURCH

The Okobahs; family of Chief Dr. Barrister Chris Ebubedike Okobah and his lovely wife Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah, in company of their children, members of Medical Students Making a Difference, (MSMD) from America, family members, friends and well wishers, appeared before God in a thanksgiving service at Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Igbodo, in Ika North East LGA of Delta State.

During the homily, Rev. Fr. Bernard Oleru (MSP), the parish priest of the church, spoke on the theme: “Count your blessings and remember God’s promises.” He took his bible reading from the book of 2 Samuel 7:15, 8-12, 14-16. While admonishing the congregation, the Reverend father congratulated the parishioners for their tenth year as an independent parish. He recounted how the parish has transformed positively with the quality structures and state of the acts gadgets that now showcase the church as being one of the best in the state and the country at large. While appreciating the efforts and commitments of the parishioners in achieving this feat, Rev. Fr. Oleru, informed the gathering that the parish is now a parish of blessings because of the wonderful transformation within the past ten years, saying that “it is the goodness of God.” Continuing, he told the story of how God raised David from a shepherd boy and made him a king. He noted that many people usually forget God whenever they are passing through difficulties. The servant of God encouraged the congregation to always take time in counting their blessings

Speaking further, the parish priest admonished all to remember the promises of God, affirming that anytime God makes a promise, it must surely be fulfilled. He emphasized that the coming of Christ is one good example of the fulfillment of God’s promises, and prayed that the birth of Christ will give us a reason to testify.

High points of the ceremony were the special thanksgiving to God by the Okobahs;family of Dr. and Dr. (Mrs.) Chris Okobah, who were accompanied by family members, friends and associates, dancing and praising God for his bountiful blessings.

In a brief speech, Barrister Chris Okobah, on behalf of the Okobahs thanked God for the success of the Healthier 2018 free health care programme carried out across the state, and also thanked God for the recent appointments that was given to his lovely wife by Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the executive governor of Delta State.

DR. (MRS.) ISIOMA OKOBAH GETS DOUBLE APPOINTMENT

Rev. Fr. Bernard Oleru (MSP), while thanking God for his mercies upon the Okobah family, informed the congregation that Dr. and Dr. (Mrs.) Chris Okobah’s, family enabled him to complete the first major project in the church. He also appreciated the contributions of Stephen Okoh Memorial Community Health Centre at Ndobu quarters, owned by the couple that renders free health care services to members of the community and beyond.

In appreciation of all that the couple has done for the church, the parish priest on behalf of the officers and parishioners of the church honoured the couple, Dr. Barrister Chris Okobah with the title of Okparadike Jesu Christi, and Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah with the title of Adaukwu Mary.

Responding to the honour, Dr. Chris Okobah on behalf of himself, wife and children, expressed profound appreciation to the parish priest, officers and parishioners of the church for the honour done them and promised to provide the church with a complete musical set and to fully partake in the fencing of the church project that is ongoing.

After several minutes of dancing and praising God, Rev. Fr. Bernard Oleru (MSP) prayed for God’s protection and blessings upon the Okobah’s family and their well wishers.
