Tears and sorrow reigned the air in Igbodo kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State as two members of Delta State Community Policing (Vigilante) Ika North East Chapter were crushed to death by a hit and run driver.
The deceased, identified as Godwin Chiejine and Augustine Nwagbogwu were said to be at their duty post along Ekwuoma\Igbodo Old Road when the ugly incident occurred at the wee hours of that night
When Ika Weekly reporter arrived at residences of the families of the deceased, family members, friends, residents of the areas, and members of Igbodo vigilante were still in shock.

Speaking with the press, the Chairman of Igbodo Vigilante, Mr. Celestine Ofuokwu lamented the sudden death of the two members, Godwin and Augustine, saying that they were both committed to their duties.
He added that the group will greatly miss them, saying that they were both discharging their selfless duty when the reckless and careless driver killed them.
In his words, “On that fateful day, I received a phone call at about 3: am that two of my members have been knocked down by a hit and run driver. They were four cars but it was the last one that killed my men. It is indeed a big blow to the group, family, and entire people of Igbodo kingdom their wives and children are in pain. We are appealing to the government, concerned individuals and group to come to the aid of the families of late Godwin and Augustine who did their best in their selfless service to the community and government.”
While saying that the corpses have been deposited at Kifa Mortuary in Umunede, Mr. Ofuokwu disclosed that investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident with a view to bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Also speaking with newsmen in tears, the wife of late Godwin, Mrs. Nneka, and daughter of late Augustine, Miss Chinyere Augustine, in their separate remarks said the sudden passing away of their beloved ones still remains a shock to them, saying that it is a big blow to the families. They appealed to government and other public spirited persons to come to their aid as their breadwinners have suddenly left them.
However, no arrest has been made as at the time of filing this report and all effort to speak with the Monarch of the kingdom yielded no positive result as the traditional ruler was said to be in shock, as such could not speak to the press.
