PDP LEADERS NOT COMMITTED SHOULD BE SANCTIONED -Obaseki

PRINCE INNOCENT OBASEKI

A community leader in Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State and the Chairmanship aspirant for the forthcoming Local government election, Prince Innocent Obaseki, popularly known as ‘De mayor’ has called on the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika South to watch out for leaders who would not abide by the rules of the party.

Prince Obaseki made the call while reacting to some misgivings that were observed during the conduct of the councillorship primary election at various wards of the local government.

He frowned at fact that most of these self-acclaimed PDP leaders who would not attend meetings at their various wards came out during the primaries to pose as delegates in order to participate in the elections.
According to him, “The party under the leadership of Hon. Collins Bello has done so well to ensure internal democracy in the party system, but there is need for all who claim to be leaders in the party to show good example’s by being prompt to meetings and support the progress of the party at the Ward levels, and the local government at large.

“We observed with dismay that during the successful conduct of the councillorship primaries, some of these leaders came out from nowhere to vote. But, unfortunately, most of them could not produce a candidate because of their selfish interest. This however, does not really portray fairness as it is necessary that those who are really committed to the party should be considered to direct in the party’s affairs.

“In essence, I want to use this medium to encourage the party chairman, Hon. Collins Bello, to do more by sanctioning those who pose themselves as PDP leaders but never do well so that the party’s efforts towards greater achievements will not be compromised.”

Speaking further, Prince Obaseki appealed to the party to let the youths have a say for the sustainable growth of the party. He congratulated Hon. Bello for the peaceful conduct of the mock election, and also lauded members of the Future Vision and Watchout Political pressure groups whose members emerged as councillorship candidates at the primaries. He also congratulated the chairmanship candidate elect, Barr. Victor Okoh.

He called on all members of the party to make sacrifice for development to strive in the party, as well as give landslide victory for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s return bid in 2019.
