UNIDEL MURDERED LECTURER, DR. HENRY OSHILONYAH BURIED AMIDST TEARS

A Doctor of Philosophy, Chairman, Ika All Stars Football Club and Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Delta, Agbor, Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah, who was murdered by yet to be identified individuals has been laid to rest.

Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah is survived by his wife, Lucy Unoma Oshilonyah, four beautiful children, (3 sons and a daughter) and relatives. He died at the age of 48 years.

Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah, is that UNIDEL Lecturer who was murdered about two months ago. The most annoying aspect of Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah’s death is that his murderers, after they had succeeded in killing him, put his lifeless body in his car, and drove to the Central Hospital, Agbor.

On driving close to the Emergency Hall, they started shouting, who is there, Doctor, Doctor, please somebody help, somebody please help.

When he noticed that the health workers at the Emergency Department were rushing out to answer them, the driver quickly ran out of Oshidemyah’s car and joined his counterparts in their vehicle, abandoning the corpse for the health workers to deposit in the mortuary.

Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah’s burial which took place at his residence in Ashaka Community, was well attended by over 85 percent of the youth’s population in Ika nation and its environs, who in their separate remarks, described the late medical doctor as a handsome man, a lover of the youths and a God-fearing father.

According to his Biography, “Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah had his School Leaving Certificate at Ashaka Primary School and West African School Certificate/GCE at Mater Dei Grammar School, all in Ashaka Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

He proceeded to the School of Medical Laboratory Sciences, University of Jos Teaching Hospital, Plateau State, where he obtained Associate Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Henry Uzor Oshilonyah later enrolled for his postgraduate studies at the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State, where he acquired a Master’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, (Medical Microbiology) in 2005.

He later proceeded to the Abia State University, Uzuru, where he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D.) Degree in Public Health Microbiology in the year 2015.

To further make way for his academic ambition, Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah proceeded to the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto/ National Teacher’s Institute, Kaduna to obtain a postgraduate Diploma in Educaton to make his ambition hitch free in the academic world.

He began his teaching profession as a Lecturer 1 with the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Delta, Agbor, Delta State.

Before then, he was an adjunct Lecturer at the Abia State University, 2018-2021. He worked briefly with the Delta State Hospital Management Board, Asaba, St. John’s Catholic Hospital, Agbor, Phoebe Medical Laboratory, Ugbowo, Benin City, Edo State and St. Louis Medical Centre, Apapa, Lagos State.

Before his sudden death, Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah had the following technical competencies; Basic knowledge in grand writing and transitional research, Basic knowledge in research methodology and statistics data analysis.

Coach Sunday Nkeki, Mr. Michael Emefiele and Fabriguise were members of the Ika All Stars Football Club who spoke with Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter shortly after the burial ceremony, on behalf of others.

According to them, “Dr. Henry Uzor Oshilonyah was a great man and a hero when it comes to social activities.

“He was a disciplinarian and encourager. He was a visionary leader whose passion and dedication left an indelible mark of unity and purpose that defined our club’s success during his life time.

“Presido, as you were fondly called, you displayed a remarkable foresight, guiding us through challenges with grace and determination.

“Presido, we wish you journey mercy to the final home of mankind. May your gentle soul continue to rest in peace.
