Tragedy struck the home of an Agbor based resident, late Mr. Albert Achonu from Ozigono Illushi in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, as their 28 years old son and a father of one; Mr. Friday Achonu, also known as Denco was allegedly stabbed to death by members of Vikings cult group in Agbor, also known as Bagars.
The tragic incident occurred in evening of Tuesday, May 4, 2021 some buildings away from the deceased resident along Our Daily Street in Uromi Junction axis of Agbor, Ika South LGA.
According to an eye witness who spoke on the condition anonymity, “Late Denco as I fondly call him, myself and other youths in their area were only making efforts to make peace between two guys who were fighting when suddenly it turned a gathering of members of Vikings cult group following a call put across to them by their leader who lives in the area called Chubuike, an Abakeleke boy and the son of a popular business man called Lease-brown in the Uromi Junction environs.

“The Vikings cult group numbering over twenty stormed the area with dangerous weapons and we all started running for our dear lives. Unfortunately and painfully, Denco was stabbed to death in the process”.
Continuing, the eye witness account further lamented the gruesome murder of deceased who according to him was innocent of the wicked attack, saying that late Denco was his closest friend who never makes trouble.
“Late Denco is someone who is always busy assisting the mother in her food vendor business. You can only find him either in his house or in his mother’s shop”, he added.

Also speaking, the deceased mother, Mrs. Theresa Achonu in tears said, “It is too heartbreaking to see that my only son was murdered. They have killed my only son who has continued to be of good help to me by coming around to assist me in my business and home work. At the moment, I am so confused. The Agbor Police Divisional Headquarters where I reported the matter was yet to come forth with information of the murderer of my son”, she cried in a loud voice.
Lamenting in tears, the elder sister of late Denco, Mrs. Gloria Aigbiremolen said her late brother was not a cultist and I have never seen him associating with someone identified as cultist, wondering where his enemy who stabbed him to death came out from. She on behalf of her Achonu family appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Human Right Activist and all concern to come to their assistance for justice.
Meanwhile the suspected murderer of late Denco, Chubuike is said to have deserted his home since the incident.
