WE PREFER WASHING MOTORCYCLES TO CRIME- teenagers reveals

In order not to be  in the lurch and in a bid to be engaged in something meaningful, some teenagers from different areas of Owa land have formed a mini-motorbike washing centre along Obaigbena Street, by Obizokwor Street junction, Boji-Boji, Owa, in Ika Northeast LGA to disprove to many people that they are lazy children.

The teenagers revealed to Ika Weekly reporter on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, that they were propelled to venture into the business because they do not want to be involved in social vices which they said, some of their mates are associated with. They further stated that their decision was aimed at making money for themselves instead of relying solely on their parents for every of their needs or trying to migrate illegally to other countries for greener pastures.

One of the teenagers who identified himself as Destiny Friday, disclosed that the business, which they started since 2014 with few persons, has turned into a serious money making venture for them. He said due to the profit they make from it, many other teenagers have joined them thereby increasing their number to about forty.

He acknowledged that many of the teenagers do not come every day for the business because some still go to school while others have other jobs they do as supplements. He revealed that each motorcycle they wash cost between N250 to N300, asserting that each of them can wash up to eight bikes a day.

Destiny, however, noted that their major challenge is a place they will be staying for the business, adding that the landlord of the compound is asking them to leave the place. He said such has put the teenagers in dire need of a better site where they can be doing their business freely without disturbance.

Continuing, he appealed to government and well meaning Ika sons and daughters to help them to relocate to a better place and empower them with modern car washing equipment that will help them to build their vision, which the teenagers said, is to be one of the best motor washing ventures in Ika Nation.

Concluding, Destiny enjoined his contemporaries to always try at all times to work hard and stop doing evil things, adding that they wash the bikes individually to make money. He also pointed out that they normally hold meetings on ways to make the business a better one.
