A political pressure group whose membership cut across the communities of Ika Federal constituency has said that they would prefer a youth to represent them at the Federal House of Representative in Abuja come 2019.

The group under the aegis of Ojugo Solidarity Group for Okowa stated this at the meeting held in Agbor over the weekend.

Explaining their plight to journalists in Agbor, the Coordinator of the group, Comr. Ikere Victor, said the youths have long been shortchanged in the political structure of the constituency. He said now is the time for them to come out and take the bull by the horn in order to attract the needed development down to the grassroots.

According to him, “we should be allowed this time to bring our youthful knowledge into the governance of our constituency. The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa whom God is using to liberate Ika land, needs the strong support from the youths, particularly to attract more developments from the green chamber of the legislative arm of the government in Abuja and one of such persons we recommend is Comr. Raymond Ojugo.”

He said Comr. Ojugo, an indigene of Abavo kingdom, shares the initiatives of Governor Okowa, adding that Ojugo as a selfless leader runs an NGO through which he has encouraged over 50 persons in Ika land to return back to school, and he is also the youngest patron of Team Smart who is doing well to support the group both financially and materially. “We are therefore calling on him to contest for the House of Representative election to represent Ika Federal constituency because we believe in him to bring the dividend of democracy to the grassroots,” Mr. Ikere added.

On his part, the Media Director of the group, Comr. Ernest Onyeagbor Okorie further explained the commitment of Comr. Ojugo on youth development, describing him as a great ambassador of the youths. He said youths in Ika land are solidly behind him, positing that if given the ticket by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and wins, his collaborating effort with Governor Okowa will turn Ika land and its people into a better society
