WOMAN 68, SHOT DEAD IN HER HOME BY UNKNOWN ASSAILANT

There has been palpable fear in Umunede Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, following the death of a 68-year-old woman, Mrs. Juliana Kehi, who was shot dead in her home by unknown assailant.
The ugly incident which occurred few minutes before 6 a:m on Sunday December 8, 2024, drew the attention of many Umunede residents who described the sad occurrence as unfortunate and wicked.
Speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter during a visit to the bereaved family, the husband of the sexagenarian, Mr. Christopher Kehi stated that a day before the incident, his wife went to the farm to uproot cassava which she will use in processing garri, saying that later in the evening on that same day, she came back from the engine after processing it.
In his words, “When my wife came back from the engine, I sat beside her while she was frying it; She eventually finished the work by 9:30 pm and swept the ground where she fried the garri.

The following day which was Sunday, at about few minutes before 6 a:m, my wife woke up and started preparing food for me before she could go to market to sell the garri; I was in my room already awake when I heard a loud gunshot in my compound; and what I heard next was a loud scream by my wife saying they have killed her; Quickly, I took my cutlass and rushed outside and behold, I saw my wife lying in the pool of her blood; I raised alarm and called for help, but when my neighbours and security agents (Vigilante and Police) arrived, it was already late”, he concluded.
Asked if the assailant stole anything from the compound, Mr. Kehi swiftly disclosed that nothing was stolen, but said the person purposely came to kill his wife and quickly zoomed off through the fence.
Mr. Kehi used the opportunity to appeal to the police, and other security agents in Umunede to help him find the person that sent his lovely wife to her early grave, saying that his wife was everything to him.
As at the time of filling this report, the body of Mrs. Juliana Kehi has been deposited in the mortuary while investigation is said to be ongoing to find out the perpetrator of the evil act.
