Chief Yomi Oduselu Hassan a Public Analyst cum businessman, the Ekwueme I of Akumazi kingdom, has declared his interest to vie for Ika South Chairmanship position in the forthcoming local government election.
According to Chief Hassan in a chat with newsmen at his office in Agbor, expressed his displeasure over the misuse of public funds by politicians, just as he stated in frustration that so called leaders were not interested in the welfare of the masses, rather in how to fill their pockets with the common wealth of the people.
Speaking further, he questioned the rationale behind awarding a contract to construct a flyover in Agbor with a whopping sum of 59billion Naira. He claimed that if he was elected as Ika South Local Government Chairman, despite Uromi Junction being a federal road or the road to Abraka being a State road, he would use just One Billion Naira to fix the roads, and in record time.
Chief Hassan while declaring his interest in Ika South chairmanship, assured that he would not need an official residence, but would stay in his personal house in order to reduce unnecessary expenses in maintaining the official residence.
He also pledged not to receive more than Five Hundred Thousand Naira as total remuneration for himself monthly, adding that he would also ensure that he cuts off all unnecessary expenses in running the government.
Continuing, he boasted that within three weeks, he would pay all pension and gratuity owed, and would repair all roads in Ika South both state and federal roads within 3 months
Speaking further, he promised to end insecurity in Ika South in 3 months, and that he would dismantle all road blocks mounted by security agencies, and ensure that they were sent to the forest where those terrorizing the local government area are hiding.
One of the ways he pointed out that would help him achieve his goals, is that he would meet with former chairmen of the council every three months for advice and consultations.
According to Hassan, “I can use half of the fund being sent currently as allocation to the local government to do the needful.
“They complained that Funds were not enough because of inflated cost of projects, and unnecessary expenses.
“Imagine Delta State Government awarding a flyover for a whopping 59billion Naira, what does that tell us? is the flyover getting to Lagos?” he queried.
“It is obvious that people get into office with the intent to siphon and waste public funds.
“I will not spend more than a tenure in office, as before a year, I would have been able to complete all I have in mind to do” he stated.
Moreover, he affirmed that he would dismantle all the roads blocks constituted by security agencies and send all security agents to the forest where those committing havoc hide, and to fish them out.
Chief Hassan said all he wants is to make a change, and do things differently for the betterment of Ika South residents.
